Museum of the Future Opening Soon!

It was a proud moment to witness His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai reviewing the installation of the final piece to the facade of the Museum of the Future at a ceremony held on 3rd October 2020.
His Highness stated the following and we believe it could not have been described better.
A universal architectural icon, the Museum of the Future combines between our authentic Arab culture and far-reaching ambitions. It is a global engineering icon, but speaks the Arabic language
A new & completely bespoke drywall system design, engineered especially for Museum of the Future
Considered as one of the most complex architectural projects in the world, Gyproc was involved from the design stage to develop a bespoke plasterboard lining system for this complex and challenging structure. A brand new system of steel framing capable of tilting and pivoting according to the desired angle was developed. These ‘dynamic’ frameworks were necessary for supporting the numerous cantilevered shapes that form the dual curved interior lining that mirrors the architectural script as seen from outside.
Gyproc plasterboard and framing systems and solutions, including GypWall CLASSIC, ShaftWall along with specialist Glasroc X and M2TECH plasterboards were used to meet the demanding levels of performance on this project.
The result is a beautiful and striking internal space, and Saint-Gobain is proud to have been their chosen solution provider.
A Saint-Gobain effort
Several Saint-Gobain solutions and materials contributed to the construction of this architectural masterpiece, such as high performance Adfors joint tapes, KIMMCO-ISOVER glass wool to insulate air ducts and Weber high quality cementitious renderings.
On the building’s exterior façade, 1024 steel panels are joined together by Saint-Gobain Tape Solutions Norseal FS1000 foam joints. These seals have been chosen for their unique combination of sealing and resistance properties (fire, water, air,) as well as their ease of installation, contributing to the perfectly smooth appearance of the building envelope. The facade is covered with Arabic calligraphy, each letter serving as a glass window.
Sustainability - As green as it gets
A symbol of architecture that constantly pushes back the boundaries with ever more efficient materials, this museum, built at the initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, is also an example of sustainable building. It will be LEED Platinum certified through more than 50 environmental projects. The site will, for example, be powered by solar energy and will provide terminals for recharging electric cars.
Global innovation hub of the future
Designed by the architectural firm Killa Design, the Museum of the Future once inaugurated, will host innovation laboratories on the major challenges of tomorrow – health, smart cities, energy and transport – and will allow visitors to test the leading tech companies’ latest breakthroughs.
