Gyproc Acoustic ceilings chosen for Khobar’s Fanar Tower

Gyproc’s high performance Gyptone acoustic ceilings have been chosen to meet demanding acoustic standards at Al Fanar Tower, one of the largest buildings on Khobar’s Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Road.
The 16-storey complex with its imposing glass and terracotta exterior, integrates luxury residential accommodation, a 5-star hotel and a Health Club, complete with swimming pool, with more than 150 offices spaces spread over ten floors.
To ensure comfortable working conditions for staff in the high specification offices, the client insisted on perforated acoustic ceilings to reinforce the modern, high quality design and provide acoustic performance of not less than NRC 0.6, in order to control reverberation and noise levels.
Following discussions with the Gyproc Technical team, the decision was taken to use the company’s Gyptone Point 11, a high performance gypsum-based tile with a regular pattern of 6mm diameter full-depth perforations and a special sound-absorbent tissue backing. The attractive pre-finished white tiles surpassed all acoustic requirements and provided a modern finish to enhance the prestige office interiors.
Almost 12,000m2 of the 600 x 600mm Gyptone Point 11 tiles were installed in a standard metal suspension system – all tiles being provided with a special E15 profile edge to ensure a neat, semi-concealed grid finish.
Throughout the project, Gyproc’s Technical and Commercial teams provided full on and off-site support to deal with any detailing issues and ensure that the installation could be completed on time and to the very high quality standards demanded for the complex.
