Gyproc helps Abu Dhabi prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup

Gyproc high performance partitions and linings that have been specially designed to withstand knocks and scrapes in very high traffic areas of buildings, will be helping to protect Abu Dhabi’s newly refurbished Zayed Sports Stadium from the ravages of football fans at next month’s FIFA Club World Cup.

Part of a full range of Gyproc lightweight plasterboard systems specified by consultants, for the refurbishment of the 1970’s national stadium, the GypWall ROBUST partitions have been used to provide high impact resistant linings to corridors and other areas, such as stairwells, which will take the major brunt of the fans’ enthusiasm when the turnstiles finally open.

Lined with Gyproc DuraLine – a high impact resistant plasterboard developed specifically for use in schools, hospitals and other buildings where robust, hard wearing linings are a must to prevent damage from daily impacts by trolleys, furniture etc., the partitions will ensure that the new Stadium will continue to show its best face to visitors from across the world.

Dubai-based dry lining specialists, Hakas Contracting, who have worked alongside Main Contractor, ISG Middle East throughout the construction phase of the contract, have installed the partitions as part of full package of Gyproc systems, valued in excess of AED 600,000.

The package includes GypWall CLASSIC partitions and Gyproc ShaftWall – a high performance acoustic and fire-resistant lining used for lining shafts, risers and other areas where space limitations mean access is available from only one side of the structure.

To complete the lining specification, GypLyner UNIVERSAL has been specified to line concrete and masonry surfaces and Gyproc MF suspended ceilings used to allow access to plenum-based services whilst maintaining a modern monolithic finish to ceiling areas throughout the complex.

Local drywall distributor and stockist, SIG Dubai, worked closely with Gyproc’s logistics team and Hakas to ensure that the Gyproc systems and components were delivered on schedule to meet client, Mubadala Development’s tight timescale and ensure the refurbished stadium is ready to meet the FIFA deadline.
