GYPROC SYSTEMS HIT THE MARK AT EXPO 2020
Gyproc’s focus on creating high performing buildings through sustainable components that perform better at every stage of the building’s life, has proved a winning formula for WORLD EXPO 2020, with its superior performing wall and ceiling linings chosen to ensure visitors’ comfort and wellbeing at more than thirty pavilions and other key buildings on the Dubai site.
As the key theme for EXPO 2020, the Middle East’s biggest ever globally focused event, sustainability features strongly not only in displays and presentations but throughout the show’s buildings and infrastructure, much of which will be retained and repurposed following the show to create a new permanent residential community.
As an outstanding example of leading-edge low energy and sustainable design and construction techniques, the Sustainability Pavilion is sure to be high on guests ‘must visit’ list. The eye-catching positive energy building was designed by Grimshaw Architects to achieve the hallowed LEED Platinum environmental rating, which called for high performance products with low environmental impact throughout. Gyproc’s high-performance ceiling and wall linings fitted the bill perfectly and were specified throughout this and, subsequently, a further 30 of the show’s most noteworthy pavilions.
Gyproc’s focus is to have high performing buildings and this will be clear to guests from the moment they enter the EXPO site. Progressing down the impressive Al Wasl Plaza towards the show-stopping 130 metre- diameter Al Wasl Dome with its stunning illuminated architectural mesh covering supplied by Saint-Gobain Films and Fabric, the dome provides a unique projection screen, allowing in natural light and air flow, while reflecting heat to maintain a cool and comfortable temperature in the space below. In the Plaza the guests will be surrounded and protected by a vast array of high-performance Gyproc products, including standard and high-performance acoustic partitions, GypLyner wall linings and MF ceilings.
Other Gyproc products used on the site include high performance perforated gypsum acoustic tiles, Gyprex ceiling tiles and the innovative new Glasroc-X external facade solution, which was selected for a number of buildings, including the impressive Egypt and Palestine pavilions.
