Gyproc supports major UAE Green Building initiative

Gyproc Middle East has become a founder member of one of the most exciting and potentially powerful green building initiatives ever launched in the UAE.

Due to go live at the end of March 2011, 'The Future Build' directory is a major on-line portal managed by renowned green building expert, Masdar, developer of Masdar City, one of the most sustainable cities on earth.

The Future Build has been designed to help architects, engineers and contractors find their way through the current green wash of environmental claims and source genuinely sustainable products that have been independently certified by a third party against a range of key criteria. The easy-to-use portal benefits from Masdar's unique in-depth knowledge and experience in sourcing green products for their own developments.

To qualify for listing in the new directory, products are independently and rigorously assessed and selected against a range of key sustainability markers including recycled content, contribution to the conservation of natural resources, energy saving potential and their contribution to a safe and healthy indoor environment.

Once products have been selected from the comprehensive directory, the portal provides users with extended product data, brochures and CAD details, as well as details of related products and other information to help build up a complete green specification.

Gyproc Managing Director, Craig Chambers, said, “As a company that is clearly focused on delivering sustainable solutions for today’s construction industry, Gyproc Middle East is delighted to support the new The Future Build initiative.

“Developing genuinely sustainable product and system solutions for buildings is crucial in the international fight against global warming, but is particularly relevant in the UAE to help tackle our high per capita ecological footprint.”
