Gyproc systems for Madinat Jumeirah
Advanced lightweight walling systems from Gyproc Middle East have been specified to provide high levels of sound and fire protection at the new Dh2.5 billion extension to Dubai’s Arabian Resort, Madinat Jumeirah.
In the shadow of Burj Al Arab, the world’s only 7-star hotel, the new extension will comprise a 420 room luxury hotel, villas complex, commercial centre and retail/leisure facilities, all built in the style of a traditional Arabian town.
To meet the demanding completion schedule, the new buildings have been constructed around a traditional concrete frame, with lightweight separating walls to maximise both the speed of construction and the flexibility of the internal space.
With the help of Gyproc’s technical team, a full specification has been drawn up for internal walls based on Gyproc’s high performance GypWall QUIET system. A twin frame acoustic separating wall developed specifically to meet demanding levels of sound insulation between adjacent units in hotels and residential buildings, GypWall QUIET will not only provide up to 63RwdB sound insulation to meet guest expectations in the luxury hotel, but delivers 120 minutes fire performance for additional safety in the busy high rise development.
Gyproc’s market leading ShaftWall system has also been specified to create the shaft linings for lifts and other services. A high performance fast track lining system that can be built from one side only, ShaftWall allows shaft construction to be commenced at an earlier stage in the build programme, adding significantly to cost and time savings on the project.
To ensure that installation of the Gyproc systems is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible to maximise time benefits, Gyproc’s Technical team will be providing on and off-site support and training to the contractors throughout the project.
The new development is part of Dubai’s plan to streamline hotel investment and rapidly expand hotel room availability ahead of World Expo 2020, which is expected to attract up to 25 million visitors to the region during the 12-month event.
