Holiday Inn gets ceilings to look up to

A new finishing plaster developed by Dubai-based plasterboard specialist, Gyproc Middle East, has been used to create high quality smooth ceilings at Muscat’s new Holiday Inn Hotel.

Service and quality are a top priority for the international hotel chain, which believes customers should be able to expect the same level of comfort and quality of surroundings they enjoy at home – wherever they stay in the group’s worldwide hotel venues.

Nowhere was quality of finish more important than on floor 5 of Muscat’s new 174-room Holiday Inn, where executive class customers in the hotel’s premium rooms and suites would be expecting the best of the best.

When contractors, Zubair, were faced with undulations in the ceilings on floor 5 that could not be effectively concealed using traditional local finishing techniques, therefore, they turned to Gyproc for help.

The solution was to use Gyproc GypFine BoardSkim, a finishing plaster specially developed to cover joints and other imperfection in plasterboard backgrounds, leaving the finish flat and smooth.

To ensure that Zubair were able to achieve the very high quality of finish required, Gyproc’s Training Team travelled to Muscat to carry out on-site demonstrations and training for the company’s 12 applicators and onsite management team.

As a result, the new plaster was applied quickly and efficiently in a single operation, covering the imperfections and leaving a flawless flat finish that stood up to even the hotels most demanding lighting conditions.

Visitors to the popular hotel, which is in the heart of Muscat, midway between the International Airport and the central business district, can therefore enjoy the quality of finish they have come to expect from the premium hotel brand, thanks to Gyproc’s new finishing plaster range.
