Saint-Gobain Gyproc gets Qatar Civil Defence Approval
High performance Gyproc lightweight systems are now fully approved for structural fire protection in new building projects in Qatar, following certification by the Qatar Civil Defence Department (QCDD).
The prestigious approval extends to the GypWall CLASSIC and GypWall QUIET partitioning systems Gyproc Middle East, part of the world-leading Saint-Gobain construction products group. It means that specifiers in Qatar can now use the latest Gyproc fire safe design solutions in a range of buildings from hospitals, schools and government offices to high rise developments requiring fire rated partitions and walls.
It follows similar approval from the Royal Omani Police (ROP) Civil Defence, Fire Prevention Department in 2011, for Gyproc FireStop boards – a popular fire-safe lining solution for ceilings, partitions and shaft linings.
Widely used throughout the Middle East to meet demanding performance standards in many high profile building projects, lightweight Gyproc systems are fast replacing traditional masonry alternatives, because of their versatile performance, speed of installation, improved logistics and cost savings.
“Since opening our new state-of-the-art US$ 60 million plasterboard manufacturing plant in Abu-Dhabi in April 2010, we have made it a priority to work alongside local authorities and other technical organisations to ensure that we not only meet the highest British, European and US performance standards, but we also have all of the necessary approvals to support local construction projects. We are delighted that we have now added the prestigious QCDD approval to our growing list”, said Gyproc Managing Director, Paul Button.
