Saint-Gobain Gyproc plasterboard plant in the Middle East opening event

On April 29, 2010, Saint-Gobain Gyproc employees, customers and distinguished guests who included, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Claude Imauven, President of Saint-Gobain Construction Products celebrated the opening of their new plasterboard manufacturing facility in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD).

The state-of-the-art facility is the first of its kind for the French company and local partner Sultan International Holdings, in the Gulf region and represents an investment of over US$60 million. The company will be able to produce around 30 million square metres of plasterboard each year, from the 7-hectare site, servicing the ever growing demand for lightweight building systems for the construction sector in the region.

Over 100 guests attended the launch event, which began with a welcome introduction from Craig Chambers Managing Director of Saint Gobain Gyproc Middle East, followed by the plaque unveiling ceremony by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Claude Imauven. Guests were then taken on a tour of the plant where they could see how plasterboard is manufactured during the production process. Guests then celebrated the occasion with an Arabic themed lunch at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
