St. Regis chooses performance systems
Gyproc partitions have been chosen to meet exacting performance standards at Al Maabar International’s new St. Regis Hotel and Residences in the heart of Jordan capital, Amman.
The luxury development has been designed as a series of three 17-storey towers around a central podium – one tower accommodating the exclusive 5-star 260 bed hotel and the other two providing a range of residences and sky villas – the first private branded residences available for sale in the Kingdom.
To meet the demanding standards of acoustic privacy needed between adjacent hotel rooms and residencies, architects, Perkins Eastman, specified Gyproc’s GypWall ROBUST partitions for all standard height separating walls. The high strength partitions are lined to each side with a single layer of impact resistant Gyproc DuraLine board, ensuring they will shrug-off accidental impacts and thus maintain their pristine condition, as well as meeting the required Rw52dB acoustic performance.
For extended height partitions, which reach up to 12m in height in some theatre, fitness and executive lounge areas, the specification was changed to GypWall QUIET, a high strength sound-resisting twin metal frame partition that easily achieves acoustic requirements, whilst providing the required 120 minutes fire resistance.
Gyproc’s new Aquaroc Fibre Cement board, a high density cement-based board with excellent mechanical strength, is also being used in elevator lobbies and other prestige areas to support adhesive –fixed heavy marble linings, weighing up to 50kg/m2.
The Gyproc systems, which provide both cost and speed benefits over traditional heavy masonry alternatives, will help contractors, Arabtec Construction to meet challenging completion deadlines for the imposing development, as well as ensuring that the VIP guests and residents enjoy very high standards of comfort and safety when the buildings are completed in late 2016.
