HYATT CAPITAL GATE

Architect
RMJM, Dubai
Client
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre

This iconic tower soars to 160 meters above ground and has been entered in to the Guinness Book of Records as the world's most inclined building with a westward incline of 18 degrees.

GypWall CLASSIC & GypWall QUIET systems with Gyproc DuraLine provided a robust finish for the hotel. Gyproc ShaftWall and Gyproc MF ceiling systems were also used to maintain performance requirements.

Challenges

  • To build partitions that can only be constructed from one side.
  • In addition, these partitions needed to be 'stepped' with a horizontal section for a distance between 1m and 2.5m, containing two 90 degrees turns and maintaining 120 minutes fire rating throughout.
  • To fix and support the concealed cisterns with the cavity of a fire rated partition.
  • Multiple angled penetrations around the head of fire rated partitions, including beams, ducting and services.

Outcome

The greatest advantage to this project was the regular site meetings and 'on site' support and advice given by the Gyproc Technical Team which helped overcome many of the site issues on this unusual shaped building.
