The Kuwait University Central Administration Facilities form a landmark gateway to the university’s new Al Shadadiyah campus, bringing together seven interconnected buildings within a unified architectural vision.

The development includes key facilities such as the central administration hub, ceremonial hall, visitor centre, library, conference centre, cultural centre, and Grand Mosque.

Spanning a footprint of approximately 3 million square feet, the project integrates landscaped plazas and gardens that create a central oasis while maintaining functional separation across campus zones.

Each building retains a distinct identity while contributing to a cohesive design language, enhancing the experience for students, staff, and visitors.

CHALLENGES

  • Managing extreme climatic conditions, including high heat exposure.
  • Delivering fire protection up to 120 minutes across multiple buildings.
  • Achieving acoustic insulation up to 55 dB STC between varied spaces.
  • Adapting solutions to large ceiling heights up to 7.5 metres.
  • Ensuring performance across diverse building functions and environments.

OUTCOME

Gyproc provided a comprehensive package of partition, lining, and ceiling systems to meet the project’s acoustic and fire performance requirements.

The solution included:

  • 250,000 m² of Gyproc RG plasterboards.
  • GypWall CLASSIC partitions for general applications.
  • GypWall QUIET twin-frame systems for enhanced acoustic separation.
  • GypWall IWL systems and MF suspended ceilings.

With a total system value of approximately AED 5 million, the solution ensured a high level of performance across all functional spaces.
