Masdar

Masdar City is the world's first carbon-neutral, zero waste city with Masdar Institute of Science & Technology (MIST) being the first project to be completed.

The Gyproc Technical Team provided on-site training for the subcontractor on the correct installation of Gyproc systems, including GypWall CLASSIC, GypWall QUIET utilizing Gyproc DuraLine for a robust finish, Gyproc ShaftWall and Gyproc MF ceiling systems.

Challenges

  • Subcontractors with limited knowledge of Gyproc drylining systems.
  • Many services/ducting/mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) challenges on site.
  • Shafts and risers requiring 120 minutes fire resistance.
  • Curved partitions, some at 5.5m high.
  • Contribution to a carbon free city.

Outcome

As a modern alternative to blockwork - a faster, lighter and more efficient building system was used. The rigidised Gypframe framework provides the strength to high reaching, curved wall features around the reception areas giving the finished partition a highly aesthetic look. With our Gyproc systems achieving Green Label certification, we were able to provide the environmentally friendly products and systems expected in Masdar City.
